Sommelier Exam at the end of 3rd Level
After completing the course, it is time for the exam.
In Berlin, the exam will take place at the school’s address: Groninger Strasse 48 – 13347 Berlin
The exam consists of three parts:
The first step is a written exam consisting of both open-ended and multiple-choice questions covering all three levels. You will have 120 minutes to complete the test. To pass, at least 60% of your answers must be correct.
The exam is corrected immediately. If you pass the written exam, you will proceed directly to the next part.
The second part is the oral exam. Here you will be assessed on your ability to present, convey and communicate about a wine, a grape variety or a wine-growing region.
The third stage is the practical part, where you undertake a blind tasting in front of the committee, give a sensory analysis and describe the wines and/or spirits available based on the content of all three levels, including questions about serving, oenology, region and/or grape variety, etc.
The results of the exam are announced in person on the same day as the examination.
Those who do not pass this test may retake it within 12 months and complete the course, on the sole condition that they are members or have paid the annual fee. There are no additional costs.
A successfully completed and approved examination means that you are an internationally recognized Certified Sommelier.
